Proprietor's message

Vida Opoku (M.A), the visionary founder and proprietor of Genesis Math and Science Academy, established the school out of a deep passion for quality education and a sincere desire to make a difference in the lives of children.

Vida's Journey,
Born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, Vida began her education in a small village that had no school building. Classes were held under mango trees, and students wrote in the sand with their fingers due to a lack of supplies. School were closed were on every rainy day.

I sometimes had to skip class to help my family on farming works. Despite facing numerous challenges during her childhood. Vida continued to face challenges when she first moved to the United States as an new immigrant with no family or friends. Despite all these challenges, Vida remained determined to pursue her education.

Vida earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from Loyola University Chicago in 2023. Later that same year, she enrolled in graduate school at Loyola and went on to earn a Master’s degree in International Affairs in 2025.

Throughout her academic and professional journey, Vida has been featured in various public speaking events, including the UNICEF USA 75th Anniversary in 2021. Today, Vida has funded a STEM school in her hometown where children can learn and grow. “ I want to give an opportunity to every child to thrive school, the opportunities that I couldn’t have when I was a kid “.

Vida Opoku is the Founder and CEO of Genesis Academy, a transformative educational institution in Ghana dedicated to serving underprivileged communities. A graduate of Loyola University Chicago (M.A.), Vida brings a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and youth empowerment.

With extensive experience in leadership, fundraising, team building, and policy advocacy, she is passionate about creating opportunities for underserved populations. Vida’s journey from attending school under trees in rural Ghana to leading an institution that uplifts hundreds drives her mission to inspire and mentor young leaders across the globe.

Vida has strong interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, empathetic and unwavering dedication to building sustainable change through education, advocacy, and grassroots development.
